The old magicians timed their work by the Moon. The Picatrix and Agrippa both divide her path into twenty-eight mansions, the manazil al-qamar of the Arabic astrologers, and give each one works it favours and works it hinders. To use them you need to know when the Moon enters each mansion, and European tables were never drawn up in Australian time.
This almanac gives every lunar mansion entry for 2027, along with every new Moon, first quarter, full Moon and last quarter, and every change of sign. It comes to more than five hundred timed events, one month to a page, all in Australian Eastern Standard Time, with a one-page guide for converting to your own state’s clock, daylight saving dates included.
There is a short introduction on the mansions in the Picatrix (Book I, chapter 4) and in Agrippa’s De occulta philosophia (Book II, chapter 33), a table of all twenty-eight with their names and degrees and what Agrippa says of each, a year-at-a-glance page of the phases, and a note on the eclipses of 2027 and whether you can see them from here. Positions are worked from the JPL planetary ephemeris, and every phase time was checked against NASA’s published tables.
The mansions belong to the esoteric tradition, and this almanac describes the practice on its own terms. It makes no claim for its efficacy.
